Rabbit Hole

Lucia Suffel Crafts Award for Outstanding Senior Project in Art

Interactive fiction game with hand-drawn assets and Adobe After Effects / Animate animation. Visitors able to enter a painted installation space and navigate the game via a controller on the “bedside table“ (see installation photos above).

A library of cutscenes is randomized every time the game starts. Every player has a unique experience within Rabbit Hole.

Rabbit Hole  explores an alternate reality which erupts within moments of insomnia, and posits it as a place of self-discovery. Though this Rabbit Hole is a personal one, the work implies that these worlds can be found within any person when they are alone. Rabbit Hole explores how to turn our screens into tools that not only prioritize, but discover our needs.

Programmed in Ren’py, Animated cutscenes made with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator & Photoshop.

Short Film & Side-Scrolling Platformer

For the Laspa Center’s “We Act“ Grant

In order to become a recipient for the Laspa Center at Scripps College’s “We Act“ grant, I pitched a concept for an animated short film about my pet rabbit. Using the rabbit as a metaphor, I would touch on themes of childhood trauma, anxiety, and growing up queer in the digital age. This project helped inform my senior thesis, Rabbit Hole, which would begin production the following Fall..

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT RABBIT

To expand this project, I programmed a platformer, which I called “Emotional Support Rabbit.” Watch until the end of the video to see how I incorporated gameplay footage into the final short, or click HERE to download and play.
